Virat ‘The Run-Machine’ Kohli has lost his number one spot in the ICC One-Day Cricket player rankings to Daryl Mitchell on New Zealand. The change comes after the Men in Blue’s defeat to New Zealand by a margin of 1-2 in the IDFC FIRST BANK 3-match ODI series. Virat had reclaimed the top spot last week, following an impressive run of form in 50-over matches. However, Daryl Mitchell was behind Virat by just a single rating-point and has now leapfrogged him in the latest ranking update.

Daryl Mitchell’s stellar batting display in historic series victory against India

Right-hander Daryl Mitchell played a crucial role in helping the Black Caps seal their maiden One Day Cricket series victory over India on Indian soil in 35 years. He won the Man-of-the-Series award after ending the three-match series as the highest run-getter, amassing 351 runs at an unbelievable average of 174.

His incredible performance consisted of one fifty and two marvelous hundreds, making the 34-year-old the third-highest run-getter in a One-Day International series of 3 games. Talking about the rating points, Daryl Mitchell has secured the top spot with 842 points, while Virat sits at second position with 794 points.

The ranking of Rohit Sharma has also dropped

Similar to Kohli, the Indian captain scored just 61 runs in three innings during the series against New Zealand. Shubman Gill is now in fifth place, and Rohit has fallen to fourth. This deterioration was partly caused by his inability to turn strong beginnings into large scores. KL Rahul, on the other hand, has risen to the tenth position among batters after scoring a century in the second game.

Iyer is now ranked eleventh

Rahul is now in third place, while Shreyas Iyer is in eleventh. In the ODI bowling rankings, Kuldeep Yadav has also fallen four places. He is now ranked seventh. After Kuldeep, Mohammed Siraj is ranked 14th among Indian bowlers. Glenn Phillips' century in the last game propelled him to 20th place for New Zealand.
