VIVO IPL 2021: After CSK, Mumbai Indians (MI) likely to fly to the UAE soon, permission awaits

Vivo IPL 2021 MI Vs RR: Mumbai Indians outplayed Rajasthan Royals, seals third win of Vivo IPL 2021.

Vivo IPL 2021: Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi comprehensively outplayed Rajasthan Royals (RR) as they sealed their third win of the Indian T20 tournament by seven wickets.

Chasing 171, Mumbai Indians lost their skipper in the final over of the powerplay. All rounder Chris Morris ensured the first breakthrough for the Royals as Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma departed after scoring 14 runs off 17 deliveries with one six. Mumbai Indians amassed 49 runs in the powerplay.

Suryakumar Yadav coming at number three could not support Quinton de Kock for longer as Chris Morris again striked in the 10th over. Yadav returned with 16 runs from 10 balls.

Krunal Pandya got a promotion to bat early in the order after the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav. Quinton de Kock and Krunal Pandya stitched a beautiful partnership to stabilize the innings. Both the southpaws amassed 60 runs in the next six overs.

Wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock played a fine knock and completed his first half century of the Vivo IPL 2021 in the 12th over.

Mustafizur Rahman clean bowled Krunal Pandya in the 17th over. Pandya returned after scoring sensible 26 balls 39 to power Mumbai Indians to a comprehensive win. He struck two fours and as many sixes in his innings.

To sum up the game, Kieron Pollard and Quinton de Kock completed the run-chase of 171 runs in 18.3 overs with seven wickets to follow.

De Kock remained unbeaten on 70 off 50 balls which included six boundaries and two sixes while Pollard added quick 16 from 8 balls with the help of two fours and a six.

Forced to bat first after losing the toss, Rajasthan Royals (RR) openers gave a flying start after a couple of cheap early overs. RR collected 47 runs in the powerplay without losing wickets.

Danger man Rahul Chahar provided the first breakthrough in Jos Buttler in the 8th over. Buttler departed after scoring a well-crafted 41 from 32 balls with three boundaries and as many sixes.

Other opener Yashashvi Jaiswal (32 off 20) was also sent back by Rahul Chahar in his subsequent over. 

Skipper Sanju Samson controlled the game with his impressive strokeplay. He took RR to 148 runs in 17.4 overs before getting out. Samson was clean bowled by Trent Boult in the 18th over. He scored 42 from 27 balls hitting five fours in the process.

Shivam Dube from the other end was sent back by Jasprit Bumrah who bowled superbly in his four overs. Dube went after scoring 35 from 31 balls.

While an exceptional effort from Mumbai Indians bowlers at the death overs restricted Rajasthan Royals in 171 runs in the loss of four wickets.

For his good unbeaten knock of 70 runs, Quinton de Kock was considered as the “Man of the Match”.
