Kohli, Pant released from bio-bubble ahead of 3rd T20I against West Indies.

INDvsWI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday released former captain Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant from the team’s bio-secure bubble. The two above mentioned players have been given a 10-days break before the start of INDvsSL Tests.

The duo have left for their respective homes after smashing series-clinching half-centuries against West Indies in the 2nd T20I in the iconic Eden Gardens. Kohli and Pant, scored 52 runs apiece while the latter remained unbeaten in his knock.

“Yes, Kohli has left home on Saturday morning as India have already won the series,” a senior BCCI official privy to the development told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were in a strict bio bubble since the tour of South Africa. The two have played the most number of games in the specified time period.

The BCCI official also informed that the cricket board has decided to give its all-format players regular breaks in order to maintain their workload.

“As it has been decided by BCCI, it will be a policy to give all the regular all-format players periodic breaks from the bubble to ensure that their workload management and mental health is taken care of,” the official further told.

As per the reports of PTI, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant won’t be featuring in the upcoming three matches T20I series against Sri Lanka as well, starting February 26 in Lucknow. Both of them will return for the two games test series against the island nation.

It is worth noting that the first test match between India and Sri Lanka, to be held in Mohali, will be Virat’s 100th test match.

Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal, R Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari will join the Indian contingent along with Virat and Rishabh Pant at the end of the month for the two games Test series against Sri Lanka.

The first test is scheduled to be held in Chandigarh while the second is slated to be played in Bangaluru.
