KL Rahul has tested covid positive: Sourav Ganguly confirms: Indian opener batter KL Rahul has tested positive for Covid-19, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly informs the reporters after the Apex Council Meeting on July 21, Thursday. 

Rahul was undergoing his rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore. He underwent a surgery for sports hernia in Germany a couple of weeks ago.

“Senior batter KL Rahul @klrahul has tested positive for #COVID19: @BCCI president @SGanguly99 told reporters after Apex Council Meeting. #CricketTwitter,” wrote PTI reporter Kushan Sarkar.

Notably, KL Rahul was having his intense training at the NCA to be fit for the upcoming five matches T20I series against West Indies. He had also shared a video of his training across his social media handles.

The T20I series against West Indies will begin on July 29 in Trinidad. KL Rahul has been named in India’s T20I squad, however, his participation will depend on his fitness levels and recovery from covid.

India’s T20I Squad for West Indies:

Besides Rahul, chinaman Kuldeep Yadav is also named in the T20I squad, but his availability will also depend on his fitness test. Senior spinner R Ashwin will also make his comeback.

Youngster Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan have been retained in the shortest format squad. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal has been rested for the tour alongside Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami.
