Punjab Kings registered their second straight win of IPL 2026 as they continued their good record against Chennai Super Kings. The Shreyas Iyer-led side bagged a five-wicket win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday. Put into bat, Chennai posted a total of 209 for five, in response, Punjab chased the target with eight balls to spare.
Chennai had a poor start to their innings as Sanju Samson bagged the second consecutive failure for his new franchise. But, batting at three, Ayush Mhatre (73) played a magical hand, hitting a quick-fire half-century.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (28) struggled to get going but still managed a 96-run stand for the second wicket with Mhatre. Sarfaraz Khan (32) played a great cameo to keep the momentum going.
Before Shivam Dube (45*) finished the innings on a high. Thanks to the collective effort, Chennai posted a total of 209 for five.

Punjab had a dream start to the chase as Priyansh Arya (39) came out all guns blazing. He along with Prabhsimran Singh (43) added 61 runs for the opening stand.
Cooper Connolly (36) continued his fine form at three, while captain Shreyas Iyer (50) hit a sublime half-century.
Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis and Shasank Singh played their part as Punjab chased the target with five wickets in hand and eight balls to spare.
