IPL 2026 Full Schedule Date Confirmed: BCCI Gives Big Update on Remaining Fixtures
As per the latest reports, the remaining matches scheduled will be officially announced within 2-3 days. It's good news for the fans and franchise as they can plan their journey in the tournament accordingly.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is scheduled to begin on March 28, 2026, with the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the opening match of the tournament. However, only the first 20 matches scheduled have been announced, while fans are still waiting for the complete IPL 2026 Fixtures.
Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given an important update regarding the full IPL 2026 schedule. As per the latest reports, the remaining matches scheduled will be officially announced within 2-3 days. It's good news for the fans and franchise as they can plan their journey in the tournament accordingly.
As of now, BCCI has revealed the IPL 2026 Schedule only till April 12, and the remaining 54 matches are yet to be finalised. Earlier, there were rumours that IPL 2026 would have 84 matches, but the BCCI has confirmed that the tournament will have a total of 74 matches, the same as previous seasons.
Why the delay in the IPL 2026 Schedule Announcement?
The reason for the delay or the announcement of the IPL 2026 schedule in phases is due to the election in several regions of India in the same window as IPL therefore due to security concerns, BCCI had to make fixtures carefully.
In the same window as IPL, Assembly elections will be held in states like Assam, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. These states have two important venues, like Eden Gardens in Kolkata and M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The BCCI has to wait for confirmation of election dates before finalising the fixtures.
It’s going to be an interesting season between all 10 teams in the Indian Premier League. However, teams like the Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru look very strong on paper, and they are among the top contenders to win the tournament.
RCB will be looking to win their second title of the tournament, while five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, will be looking to add their sixth title to the trophy cabinet. It’s going to be an intense season, and teams have to play their best cricket to win matches and lift the IPL 2026 Trophy.
