IPL 2023: Complete List of Players Ruled out of IPL 2023: The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin on March 31st (Friday) with Gujarat Titans (GT) squaring off against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Narendra Modi Stadium. The excitement for the Indian T20 league among the fans and even in teams is huge and it’s growing as we are inching closer to the tournament.
While there is enormous anticipation and enthusiasm for the tournament, there are a couple of setbacks too for the teams. There have been multiple reports of player injuries owing to which they will have to miss the lucrative IPL 2023.
The latest injury report came in the form of Mumbai Indians’ pacer Jhye Richardson, who has pulled his hamstring. The Aussie bowler recently underwent surgery to combat the injury and was due to join Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023. MI had shelled out INR 1.5 Crores to get the services of Richardson during the IPL 2023 Auction.
In addition to Jhye Richardson, Mumbai will also miss the presence of their pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2023 due to his back issues. The pacer has undergone a successful surgery in New Zealand and is expected to take around six months to be completely back on the field.
Wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and pacer Prasidh Krishna are a couple of other Indian players who are confirmed to miss the IPL 2023.
Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant miraculously survived a spine-chilling car accident a couple of months ago and is on his road to recovery. While some reports say Pant would miss the cricket action for the entire of 2023, some have expected him to make a comeback towards the second half of the year.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Shreyas Iyer recently complained of back pain and was subsequently ruled out of the upcoming IND vs AUS ODI series. As per the reports, Iyer is expected to miss the first half of the IPL 2023. Prasidh Krishna, on the other hand, suffered a lumbar stress fracture owing to which he will also miss the tournament.
The foreign players who will miss the IPL 2023 are – CSK’s Kyle Jamieson, PBKS’ Jonny Bairstow and RCB’s Will Jacks.
Kiwi all-rounder Kyle Jamieson has suffered a back stress fracture which will keep him away from cricket for a while. England batter Jonny Bairstow underwent surgery to treat multiple fractures suffered due to a freak golf accident and is undergoing recovery. Meanwhile, Will Jacks is ruled out after sustaining a muscle injury.
