IPL 2023: The IPL, or Indian Premier League, has had many franchises with an intense history and legacy in the tournament. Over the years, many teams have paved their way to the top of the table, while teams like CSK and MI have been the most successful franchises in the league.

Similar to the other editions of the IPL, this season all franchises have tied their belts and are all set to roar even amidst several turbulences and tough opposition from each other. With a highly competitive spirit, all franchises comprising several great talents from all around the world would look to fancy their chances on the cup.

Let’s take a look at the team’s probability of making it to the playoffs and their predicted position in the points table at the end of all league matches:

10. Kolkata Knight Riders

The Knight Riders from Kolkata are the third-most successful franchise in the history of the IPL. But they have been in miserable form in the recent past, and even this year their team does not seem to be much more convincing as they lack proficiency in both the batting and bowling departments.

Another major blow to the Knights was the injury to their skipper Shreyas Iyer and Kiwi paceman Lockie Ferguson. With an unconvincing lineup and a lack of their most precious talent in their injured skipper, KKR has the least qualification chances and might even end the league at the lowest spot in the table.

9. Lucknow Super Giants

The Super Giants from Lucknow had a tremendous treble in their debut season, with all-around contributions from several recognized talents like QDK and skipper Rahul. Their success was also crafted by the exorbitantly talented Deepak Hooda, their all-rounders, and the emerging talents of Bishnoi and Mohsin Khan

Though their squad has not had many changes this year either, still in this one year many of their players have lost their form. With many new inclusions and a bunch of quality players, LSG would find them in a tough spot this year, and they might end up at the No. 9 spot with very few chances of qualifying in IPL 2023.

8. Chennai Super Kings

The most successful team in league matches in the history of the tournament has been in disappointing form in 2022 after a title win in 2021. This might be the legend MS Dhoni’s final year of appearance on the field in yellow colors, and all players like the sensational Gaikwad, Conway, and severely talented Stokes, Moeen Ali, and Jadeja, all together, can lead their team to a title race, but their team seems to fall apart due to their age, lack of form, and lack of game time on Indian pitches. Keeping all these factors in mind, CSK might not have much of a chance to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2023.

7. Gujarat Titans

The Titans emerged as the scorching talent in their debut season in 2022. The defending champions would bid their hopes this year too, and skipper Pandya would look to fancy his chances at the title for the second consecutive season. But Pandya and co. have lost their charm this year, as T20 veterans like Rashid Khan and Shami have not been in great form.

Though they still have fair qualifying chances with some big shows like the informed batter Shubman Gill, the protean T20 veteran and finisher Miller, and skipper Pandya. Amidst these unique talents but suppressing form, the GT are in a partially doubtful phase, hanging between the cliff of the playoffs and the ridge of low positions in the points table.

6. Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Bangalore side is the most celebrated team in the history of the competition. Though they have an eminent deficit in their trophy cabinet, they still comprise consolidating performers like the modern-day legend Virat Kohli, skipper, and T20 veteran Glenn Maxwell.

This year’s RCB squad also comprises captivating all-round talents in both the batting and bowling departments and an overall excelling bunch of players like Hasaranga, Bracewell (who replaced the injured Will Jacks), and Shahbaz Ahmed. With all these uniquely talented players, RCB would again be in the hunt for an IPL title in 2023.

5. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have not often proved to be a convincing team for all these years in the IPL, but this year their team has been balanced to the utmost limit, as they have an excellent opening pair, a challenging set of all-rounders, and now their much discussed middle order. They already had the likes of Proteas ace pacer Kagiso Rabada and the terrific rising star from India, Arshdeep Singh.

The informed Sam Curran, who set a record, also strengthens the King’s bowling lineup alongside the talented Raza, Livingstone, and Rahul Chahar, who serve as captivating spinning options in the lineup. With a pack of immensely talented players in all departments and another new skipper and coach, PBKS would hope to revive their form and set new records in the IPL.

The Delhi Capitals have been in sizzling form since their debut in 2019. Delhi head coach Ricky Ponting has always kept faith in their prolific young talents and has not only recognized but also schooled many newcomers. Capitals earlier rendered immense faith in their players like Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Prithvi Shaw. Players like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav made their return to the Indian national side after coercive performances playing for the Capitals.

This year, in the absence of skipper Pant, the Delhi side will be led by legendary Australian veteran David Warner, who already claimed his first title as captain while leading SRH in 2016. With a powerful lineup comprised of skilled batters, powerhouse all-rounders, and tricky bowlers, the Capitals are one of the most legit contenders for the title in 2023.

3. Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals, the champions of the very first edition of the IPL, kept their fans silent over all these editions before they revived their brilliance in 2022, where they were invincible on most occasions and entered the finals with their heads held high.

This year too, they have an incredibly talented lineup with the most dependable Buttler, the Indian young seeds Paddikal, Jaiswal, and Prasidh Krishna informing Riyan Parag, the Indian maestros Sanju Samson, Yuzi Chahal, and Ravi Ashwin, and talented overseas players like Shimron Heymyer, Bill Boult, and the newly included Holder. This entire squad can again have a successful IPL campaign and might be one of the most promising contenders for the IPL 2023 trophy.

2. Mumbai Indians

The five-time champions of the prestigious IPL title have been in a miserable state for the last two seasons and have disappointed their fans since their title win in 2020. They would be pinning their hopes on a successful campaign this year in 2023.

They have a terrific set of players including the veteran skipper Rohit Sharma, the world’s no.1 T20i batter SKY and other prolific talents like Kishan, Tilak Verma, Brevis, David, Archer and the classic of Cam Green. With all these players in the lineup, they can be said to be one of the most deserving teams in IPL 2023 despite the absence of their most trustworthy asset Jasprit Bumrah.

1. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Though SRH has not shown much of their brilliance in recent times, since their win in 2016 and their IPL final appearance in 2018, But this year, after Lara took over the SRH lineup, he drafted a completely new team and bought in players like Harry Brook, Kevin Klaasen, Mayank, Rashid, and more.

Now, along with their previous storehouse of talents—Markram, Tripathi, Bhuvi, and Umran—their new bunch of players makes SRH the most formidable and  deserving team in the IPL. They can be said to be the most deserving team to set their hands on the trophy in IPL 2023.

Another plus point is their new skipper Markram, who led their SA20 franchise South Eastern Cape to a vital victory by claiming the title in the very first season and would also look to do the same in his debut season as IPL captain.
