IPL 2023: Things are not going in the favour of Sunrisers Hyderabad this year in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Despite having a star-studded side they have managed just two wins this season and have suffered disappointing losses. Poor management coupled with poor performance and strategic decisions has been the reason behind their downfall. They are placed 9th on the points table with 4 losses from 6 games.

IPL 2023: 2 Tactical Changes Sunrisers Hyderabad need to do against Delhi Capitals to get back to winning ways 3

It’s fair to say that SRH will need to turn things around soon as the time is running away. They are next slated to lock horns with Delhi Capitals on Monday (24th April). It’ll be their best chance to return to the winning ways as DC too is struggling. Let’s take a look at the 2 Tactical Changes Sunrisers Hyderabad need to do to get back to winning ways.

1. Play Mayank Agarwal as an opener

It’s fair to say that Sunrisers Hyderabad has been managing their batting order in a torrid way this season. They are trying different things which aren’t working and are hampering the confidence of the batters. They demoted Mayank Agarwal to the middle order in the last game, who had a decent game ahead of that game. He scored 48 runs at the top of the order and was asked to bat down the order, which might hamper his confidence. For SRH to get back to winning ways, they need to open the innings with Agarwal, who is a natural opener. If he gets going at the top, he can easily take the game away from opponents.

2. Utilise Washington Sundar in Power Play

One of the things the SRH has not done well in the IPL 2023 is that they have not taken the advantage of Washington Sundar as a bowler in the powerplay. The off-spinner is currently among the best Indian spinners going in world cricket and has often provided his team with breakthrough bowling with the new ball. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar swinging the ball at the one end, the spin of Sundar at the other hand will allow SRH to put pressure on the opposition with the new ball as most batters are not comfortable with the spin in the initial part of their innings.
