IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals appointed Ish Sodhi as team liaison officer for IPL 2021

IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals appointed Ish Sodhi as team liaison officer for IPL 2021.

IPL 2021: New Zealand leg spinner, Ish Sodhi has been appointed as the Team Liaison officer by RR for the coming season of the Indian Premier League. Sodhi played for Rajasthan Royals for two years 2018 and 2019 while this time after going unsold in the IPL 2021 auctions, he will feature in a managerial role for the franchise.

In the new role, Ish Sodhi will work closely with Kumar Sangakkara who is the director of Cricket for Rajasthan Royals and Jake Lush McCrum, the chief operating officer thereby contributing to both cricket and operations inside the RR management.

“The Royals are an innovative, dynamic franchise that plays an entertaining brand of cricket, and I am delighted to rejoin my IPL family to work across the board,” he said in a statement.

For 2020, Sodhi was roped in by the inaugural champions for the role of spin consultant and operations executive. However, he could not take his role in 2020 because the season got delayed and when IPL started the schedule got clashed with New Zealand’s domestic cricket sessions and the birth of his child.

“Last year, I expressed my interest in taking up the management side role and the franchise is very supportive. They offered me the role to kickstart my journey outside the field. I am really excited to take up the new role as soon as I can and support the coaches and business operations of the franchise. This will also help me develop my skills in management and coaching the players,” Sodhi said.

Ish Sodhi has nine scalps under his belt across two seasons of IPL. While the leg-spinner is not in the interest of the New Zealand Test side, he is still with the limited-overs squad. Sodhi is in the T20I squad for five games against Australia.
