IPL 2021: KKR appoints England’s Nathan Leamon as a strategic consultant

IPL 2021: KKR appoint England’s Nathan Leamon as a strategic consultant.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: Ahead of the much-awaited season of Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders has roped-in England’s white-ball analyst, Nathan Leamon as the strategic consultant for the IPL 2021. Leamon will now be involved in all the coming auction strategies and plans for the 2-time champion side.

After signing as the strategic consultant for KKR, Leamon will now take a leave of absence from England and Whales Cricket Board for the duration of IPL 2021.

Nathan Leamon has been associated with ECB white ball squad since 2009 and has worked closely with KKR skipper Eoin Morgan. His two months partnership with Morgan during IPL 2021 could impact the results of KKR.

Leamon’s part in India Premier League will also be beneficial for ECB to understand more about Indian conditions and the strategies for the upcoming ICC World T20 Tournament which is to be held in India.

In 2020, KKR ended fifth in the points table an equal number of wins (7) and defeats (7). KKR saw a midway transfer of the skipper when Dinesh Karthik stepped down and eventually Eoin Morgan was appointed leader of the side.

The new strategic consultant of KKR has previously also worked with Multan Suntans (PSL franchise).

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 auctions are scheduled to be held on 18th February in Chennai. The BCCI has also said that the IPL will begin from 11th April and will somewhere end in the first week of June.

After the complete release of the players, KKR looks solid in all departments. The franchise decided not to release too many players keeping in mind the behaviour of the small-scale auctions in 2021.

It can be a possibility that KKR might opt to restructure the squad when full-fledged auctions will be conducted in 2022.

Kolkata Knight Riders have INR 10.75 crores purse value left to purchase some players in IPL 2021 auctions.
