Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: the runner-up of the IPL 2020 extravaganza, Delhi Capitals approached BCCI for the clarity on the availability of South African players. The two South African ace pacers Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada are the part of the Delhi’s squad for the coming IPL and they have done tremendously well in the last outing.

Both the pacers topped the charts of the IPL bowlers 2021 and Kagiso Rabada went on to don the Purple Cap of IPL 2021. Anrich Nortje was drafted in by Delhi Capitals as a replacement of Chris Woakes and the South African player did miracles for the IPL 2020 runner-ups. Nortje being one of the most economical bowlers also bowled at 155 km/h which was the fastest in the entire tournament.

South Africa to host Pakistan:

Recently, Cricket South Africa has announced its series with Pakistan which will collide with IPL’s first few weeks. South Africa is currently touring Pakistan has announced that they will host Pakistan for three ODIs and four T20I games.

With South African players engaging with the national games, IPL franchise like CSK, Delhi Capitals will have to make major adjustments to their respective sides. Delhi Capitals will have to operate without Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje for the first couple of weeks.

The series between South Africa and Pakistan will begin on April 2 and the last game will be played on 16th April. IPL 2021 is reported to begin from 11th April and all the quarantine protocols will be done before that.

South African players after coming to India on 17th will have to undergo a full quarantine protocol. It can be said that the players will have to miss out on two weeks of play.

Delhi Capitals will face a major challenge without the ace pacers. Their campaign for the maiden IPL trophy could get a shock this time.
