Vivo IPL 2021: Devdutt Padikkal Tests Covid Negative, Joins RCB camp

IPL 2021: CSK and RCB players who are likely to be retained ahead of IPL 2021.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: With the successful end of the Australian tour, Indian fans now must be busy thinking about their favourite franchise. The IPL 2021 mini-auctions are around the corner and all the fans must be curious to know their favourite franchise retention policy.

Very soon it will be clear that which player has been released by the franchise and whom they have retained. Here we look at some of the most probable retentions of the CSK and RCB as advised by the cricket pundits all around the world.

CSK and RCB players who are likely to be retained ahead of IPL 2021:

Chennai Super Kings:

MS Dhoni: While some criticise MS Dhoni for his poor form but the franchise and fans know that he is the soul of the team. With three IPL titles in the bag, MS Dhoni is the most probable retention due to his calm and strategic gameplay.

Ravindra Jadeja: The all-rounder did all the miracles in the recent Australia tour and is in the form of his life. Jadeja who is currently injured will work on his fitness and will be probably retained by the franchise.

Ruturaj Gaikwad: Although the young player could not perform in the first few games he got but later in the last stages he made his intentions clear. Ruturaj smashed three back to back half-centuries which makes him the retention choice.

Sam Curran: The English All Rounder was the stand-out performer for CSK in the previous season IPL. Curran was experimented up and down the order and he has delivered to the franchise. Even though the franchise could not qualify but there were many positives for CSK, Sam Curran is one of them.

Royal Challenger Bangalore:

Virat Kohli: The skipper of the side is always on for retention. While some speculations are floating that Virat Kohli will not be retained by the franchise but the truth is, Virat Kohli has become immovable force wherever he goes. To play with his retention or place can cost the franchise a hefty price. So, he will be the first choice of retention.

AB de Villiers: The South African batsman along with Virat Kohli is the main source of runs for Royal Challenger Bangalore. In the past couple of years, both these batsmen have amassed more than 50% of team’s run. Also AB de Villiers is the part of Bangalore’s core, so he eventually becomes the retention choice.

Devdutt Padikkal: The young southpaw in IPL 2020 impressed everyone by creating the record of most runs by a debutant uncapped Indian cricketer. The left-handed batsman provided solid initial starts to the team. This was the first time when a player other than Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers emerged as the highest run-getter for them.

Yuzvendra Chahal: The right arm spinner was seen rough in the second half of the IPL 2020 but he is the main source of wickets for RCB. Chahal emerged as the highest wicket-taker for RCB in 2020. He is probably the most possible retention choice for RCB in IPL 2021.
