Indian Top Order Reigns! Rohit Sharma Maintains No. 1 Spot as Kohli Leaps Past Gill in Latest ICC ODI Rankings

India's star batter Virat 'The Run Machine' Kohli is only thirty-two rating points from surpassing his Indian counterpart Rohit Sharma for the top spot in the ODI Player batting rankings of ICC after he slammed his eighty-third international ton to rise in the ICC Rankings refresh revealed on Wednesday afternoon.
Kohli, 37 years old, struck a remarkable 134-run knock from 120 deliveries in the very first ODI of India's 3-match series against South Africa in Ranchi. His performance pushed him one spot, currently sitting at the 4th position among One-Day International batters in the latest update of ICC Men's Player-Rankings.
Virat's rating points currently stand at 751, just thirty-two points behind colleague Rohit Sharma at the top of the ODI player batting ranking chart, thanks to the hundred. Kohli was the numnber 1 ranked batter in the 50-over for almost 3 years at the close of the past decade but has not retained the top rank since Pakistan's former skipper Babar Azam surpassed him in April of 2021.
In the meanwhile, Kohli leapfrogged India's test & ODI captain Shubman Gill to take 4th place, narrowing the gap on the former India captain at the top, while Rohit increased his advantage at the top, overtaking Ibrahim Zadran of Afghanistan in third rank and New Zealand All-Rounder Daryl Mitchell in second.
As seasoned left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav moved up one slot to sixth place among ODI bowlers, India hailed more triumph. Meanwhile, the top place in the T20 International all-rounder player rankings shifted once again following the conclusion of the T20i tri-nation-series in Pakistan.
Pakistan emerged victorious in the bilateral event with a six-wicket win versus Dasun Shanaka's Sri Lanka in the summit clash, and opening batsman Saim Ayub capitalised on the triumph by restoring his place at the top of the T20I all-rounders rankings.
The batting-all rounder first acquired the top rank at the start of October but was recently eclipsed by Zimbabwe veteran Sikandar Raza. But the outstanding 23-year-old was able to win back the number one spot thanks to his performance of 36 runs with the bat in the tri-series summit-clash and a vital wicket from four frugal overs with the ball against the Sri Lankans.
His Teammates Abrar Ahmed (moving up four ranks to fourth) and Mohammad Nawaz (advancing two spots to 11th) profited from Pakistan's performance in the bilateral event as they witnessed improvisations in their positions in the T20I bowling player-rankings. Nawaz also moved up three spots to fourth position among all-rounders after winning the Man of the Tournament.
Young Kamil Mishara's success in the tri-series, when he scored 169 runs over four innings with the bat and moved up from outside the top 100 to the 18th position among T20 International batters, is going to assist Sri Lanka.
Additionally, following their recent 2-1 series triumph at home against Ireland, three Bangladeshi players also witnessed improvements.
In the T20I batter rankings, Towhid Hridoy made a climb of five spots to joint 42nd rank while Parvez Hossain Emon climbs by 21 spots to 38th. Left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman, meanwhile, moves up two places to seventh place on the list of T20I bowlers.
South African players enjoyed huge improvements during their Test series whitewash over India. The greatest beneficiary was left-arm bowler Marco Jansen, whose impressive performance in the 2-0 series triumph helped him rise in both bowling and all-rounder rankings.
Jansen rose four positions to second in the Test all-rounders rankings. In the meantime, teammates Tristan Stubbs (up 16 ranks to 47th), Ryan Rickelton (up five spots to 39th), and Kyle Verreynne (up three spots to 38th) all had significant rises in their Test batter rankings.
