India vs West Indies 3rd ODI: The hosts, India, have already wrapped up the three matches ODI series against West Indies with two consecutive wins upfront. India won the series opener by six wickets while the second match with a margin of 44 runs to seal the series.
Skipper Rohit Sharma has already clarified that the management is looking to experiment with players with a larger picture in mind. The ODI World Cup is scheduled for 2023 and the aim is to form a tough squad with minimum flaws.
There are certain puzzles in front of the skipper and the Indian management, which needs to be resolved before the World Cup and the Indian side is taking all the necessary steps to counter them.
There were a lot of positives in the second match for India against West Indies. Despite the top order collapse, the middle order soaked in the pressure and slowed down the match. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav stitched a rewarding partnership after three early wickets.
Prasidh Krishna, who looked off-colour in the first match, shifted his gears of consistency as he claimed four-for. His spell was exceptional in which he gave away just 12 runs in nine overs and scalped four wickets.
On the other hand, West Indies also had certain positives from their game. Their bowlers did fantastic work to bind the Indian batters. Kemar Roach, Odean Smith and Alzarri Joseph bowled zestful spells to lay a solid foundation, however, their batting in ODIs remained disappointing.
The top-order once again failed and left the middle order stranded. Even the middle order threw their wickets after a good start to their innings. There are certain things to improve for the West Indies in the third ODI to get away with the clean sweep.
