India vs England 2nd Test: Jofra Archer ruled out due to elbow injury.

India vs England 2nd Test: England pacer Jofra Archer is all set to miss the second test game against India due to injury on his elbow. The second test will begin on 13th February 2021 at Chennai.

“Jofra Archer will miss the second Test against India in Chennai starting on Saturday after having an injection in his right elbow,” the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement on Thursday.

“The injection follows discomfort the fast bowler experienced during the 227-run win in the first Test at the same venue,” it further stated.

The pacer was all set to rest for the second test following England’s rotation policy for the bowlers. Ace seamer Straurt Broad will come in his place for the second test.

England Cricket Board further clarified that the injury to the pacer is not related to any previous niggle and believes the cricketer will be fit in a short time. Jofra Archer will be assessed for the third test at Ahmedabad.

Broad who is number 2 test bowler in the ICC Test Bowlers ranking will join his counterpart James Anderson for the coming test match.

The seamer was rested for the first test keeping in mind the Indian condition where they wanted to go with the two spinners.

Injured Jofra Archer is also named in England’s T20I squad against India. He will be given rest to be fresh for the coming T20Is also.

England Squad for five T20Is: Eoin Morgan (capt), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonathan Bairstow, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, Mark Wood.
