Shubman Gill was looking solid on the evening of the second day itself. But his performance on day 2 affirmed the same. He looked very confident with his strokes. He played the off-spin of Nathan Lyon very well. He used the very old technique of footwork to deal with the spin. His innings of 128 comprised two good partnerships. Rohit Sharma scored a well-fought 35 while Cjeteshwar Pujara managed to score 35 runs to help Shubman to get to his 100. Shubman hit 12 fours and a 6 to amass the 128 runs.

But it was Nathan Lyon who had the last laugh. He bowled a very precise delivery which turned just the perfect amount to trap Shubman Gill’s leg-before wicket. Shubman was on the back foot and got stuck on the crease and hence found it difficult to tackle the ball. Ravindra Jadeja was the next man to walk out to bat.
