IND vs WI 2025: West Indies Announces Test Squad for Indian Tour, Chanderpaul returns to test cricket

West Indies has announced their strong 15-member squad for the upcoming test series against India in October 2025. This is going to be a two-match test series and both games will be played in India at different venues. This tour is significant for the West Indies Cricket team because they are visiting India for the first time since 2018. 

This will be the West Indies' first away test series for the new ICC World Test Championship cycle. Some old and new faces have been added to the squad as West Indies are looking to strengthen their bench strength and improve their test records.

Tangerine Chanderpaul returned to the West Indies test team; his addition to the squad will give more depth to the batting department but also improve their record in the Indian conditions. Chanderpaul will be opening for the West Indies team in this tour; however, it is not yet confirmed, but is almost expected.

The 15-member squad will be led by all-rounder Roston Chase with left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican as vice-captain. Chase has been phenomenal for the West Indies Cricket team in the past few years; his batting and bowling have both helped West Indies to win some crucial games.

Along with Tangerine Chanderpaul, Alick Athanaze also regained his position in the test squad. Khary Pierre got his maiden call for the West Indies Test Cricket team after performing exceptionally in domestic cricket, as he got 41 wickets at an average of 13.56.

Some players who played recently against Australia have been left out of the test squad, including experienced opener Kraigg Brathwaite. Gudakesh Motie is also rested for this two-match test series against India.
