Tim Seifert (24), Rachin Ravindra (44) and  Glenn Phillips (19) kept the momentum going in the middle. In the end, captain Mitchell Santner (47*) took the onus to himself and played a blistering innings to take his team to 208 for six.

In the chase, India were jolted early with both Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma getting out early. But Ishan Kishan (76), who was making a comeback, produced one of the best innings of his career and took the game away from the opposition.

He took attack to the New Zealand bowlers, hitting them all over the park. Captain Suryakumar Yadav (82*) played a second fiddle to him, scoring just 39 runs in their 122-run partnership. After Kishan got out, Captain Yadav took charge.

Shivam Dube (36*) played his part s well as India chased the target with seven wickets in hand. They chased the target inside 16 overs, creating history.
