The India vs New Zealand ODI series will begin on January 11th, with the first ODI match being played in Vadodara. The New Zealand tour of India will feature a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series between the two teams. The T20I series will begin on January 21st. The first T20I match will be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

1. Sanju Samson

Sanju has displayed explosive batting in recent domestic and T20 matches, including an impactful innings in the Kerala Cricket League where he hit 21 sixes. He also played a quick-fire innings of 37 runs off 22 balls in the recent T20I match against South Africa.

The reason he didn't get a place in the team is that he's a top-order batsman, and Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are expected to open the batting for the Indian team. Ruturaj Gaikwad is also in the running for the opening slot.

2. Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar has made a good impact with his ODI bowling in recent international matches, troubling Australian batsmen, taking wickets, and successfully building pressure. Sundar adds depth to the team with both his bowling and batting. His all-round skillset is appreciated by the selectors, but due to India's balanced team combination, he hasn't been able to secure a place in the playing XI.

3. Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna showed a strong comeback in the recent ODI series with figures of 4/66, but he also bowled some expensive spells in a few matches, which might make it difficult for the selectors to pick him in the pace department. The reason for him not getting a place in the team is the high competition, as players like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, and Arshdeep Singh are currently the top priorities.
