IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah's masterclass with ball and Axar Patel's fielding takes India to final

India will take on New Zealand in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 as they came up with a decent effort in the semi-final. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side beat England by just seven runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. Asked to bat, India posted a mammoth total of 253 for seven, in response, England fought hard, and managed 246 for seven.

India lost Abhishek Sharma early yet again in the tournament. But, Sanju Samson (89) continued his good form in the semi-final as well. He took the aggressive route right from the start, taking Jofra Archer to cleaners in the first over.

Ishan Kishan (39), at three, played a brilliant hand as he along with Samson added 97 runs for the second wicket. The move to promote Shivam Dube (43) to four worked as well as the left-hander played a brilliant hand as well, putting England under pressure.

In the end, Hardik Pandya (27:12b, 3x4, 2x6) and Tilak Varma (21:7b, 3x6) played their part as well, and India posted a mammoth total of 253 for seven.

England had a poor start with Phil Salt falling early. But Jos Buttler (25) kept the run rate high and played a decent. India kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals, removing three England batters inside power play.

It was then that Jacob Bethell (105) took the onus to himself and took Indian bowlers to cleaners. Will Jacks (35) supported him brilliantly as the two added 77 runs in just 39 balls. Bethell kept giving Indian bowlers tough time and hit a magical century. 

However, Hardik Pandya held his nerves in the penultimate over and gave nine runs, which sealed the deal for India. Shivam Dube then finished the game in the last over as India won by just 7 runs.
