IND vs BAN: India will begin the highly anticipated 2025 ICC Champions Trophy campaign today in Dubai against neighbouring rivals Bangladesh. Placed in Group A alongside Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand, India is expected to be the heavyweight in the group. 

India will play all their games at the iconic Dubai International Stadium, as Rohit Sharma will lead their campaign in ICC tournaments, probably for the last time. Bangladesh’s morale seems to be at an all-time high with their recent decent performances in the 50-over format, and their experience in the Pakistan tracks gives them an upper hand.

1. Rohit Sharma vs. Taskin Ahmed

The list mostly contains Indian batters and Bangladeshi bowlers, as the Bangladesh batters have not proven to be serious contenders for runs in the ODI format. The opening Indian batter, Rohit Sharma, has been in stunning form ever since 2023 and scored his 32nd century recently in the second ODI against England. 

Taskin Ahmed has attained considerable success against Rohit Sharma, as he has often dismissed Sharma under several conditions.

2. Shubman Gill vs. Mustafizur Rahman 

Shubman Gill is currently India’s most set batter getting into the ICC Champions Trophy, especially after a stellar series in the India vs. England ODI series. Shubman Gill recently scored 2500+ runs and achieved several records for himself as well as the team. 

Mustafizur Rahman, the left-arm medium bowler, is the most experienced bowler in the Bangladesh team. Shubman Gill will have to face him with the new ball, and the batter has often been troubled by the natural angle created by the left-arm seamers, which makes this a thrilling contest. 

3. Shreyas Iyer vs Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Shreyas Iyer’s form has been considerably good in the 50-over format; he seemed the most consistent player alongside Gill in the England ODI series. Iyer was picked by the ICC as one of the batters to shine in the Champions Trophy. 

However, Shreyas Iyer is seen as excellent against quick bowling, with the only weakness being exposed against spinners, especially slow spin, which can affect him, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the best player in charge to deliver this breakthrough.
