IND vs AUS T20I 2025: Big Blow for Australia! Adam Zampa to Miss Start of India T20Is — Here’s Why
Bad news for the Australian Team as star leg-spinner Adam Zampa will miss the start of the five-match T20I series. The India vs Australia T20I series is all set to start from October 29, 2025, at Manuka Oval in Canberra. The young leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha will be replacing Adam Zampa for the opening matches in this series.
This five-match series is going to be very crucial for both teams to test their bench strength for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Both teams are currently the top 2 teams in the world, and it's the best opportunity for them to check players' performance and combinations against the strong side before the ICC tournament.
Why is Adam Zampa missing the starting matches?
Australia's star white-ball spinner will not be playing in the starting matches of the five-match T20I series against India due to personal reasons; his wife is expecting their second child. He also missed the first ODI game against India earlier this month for similar family reasons, but played the other two games.
Cricket Australia has officially said that Zampa will be unavailable for the opening matches of the series, and Sangha will be replacing him in the squad. However, Adam Zampa is expected to be available for the later matches in the series once his personal commitments are complete.

Is this an advantage for India?
Adam Zampa has been one of their best spinners, and he performed well in the recent ODI series, so his absence will be beneficial for the Indian Team. Zampa has troubled lots of Indian batters, and without him, they might feel a little under pressure in the middle overs.
Tanveer Sangha is an inexperienced spinner, and India will be looking to capitalise on their weakness. Australia's spin attack might struggle against India's explosive top order, featuring players like Abhishek Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill, who have the ability to play at a 200+ strike rate.
Australia T20I Squad [Updated]
Mitchell Marsh (Captain), Sean Abbott (first three matches only), Xavier Bartlett, Mahli Beardman (last three games only), Tim David, Ben Dwarshuis (final two matches only), Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood (first two matches only), Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell (last three ties only), Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Mitchell Owen, Josh Philippe (wk), Matthew Short, Adam Zampa.
