ICC WTC Points Table Updated after New Zealand vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test: After owning the last ball thriller in Christchurch, New Zealand has gone on to boss Sri Lanka in the 2nd Test at Basin Reserve to end the two-match home test series with a clean sweep. The kiwis won the 2nd test against Sri Lanka by an innings and 58 runs to conclude the series. The win has produced some shuffle in the ICC WTC Points Table as well.

Sri Lanka did exceedingly well against New Zealand in the 1st Test in Christchurch, though they lost it by a whisker. However, the 2nd test was a one-sided domination by the hosts. The Lankan Lions never looked comfortable in chasing the mammoth total put up by the Kiwis. Owing to Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls’ double ton, New Zealand managed to post 580 runs total.

The Kiwi bowlers were outstanding in their execution. They induced some false shots from the Sri Lankan batters which saw them get bundled out for 164 runs in the first innings against a total of 580 runs. The home side then enforced a follow-on and again the story repeated itself as Sri Lanka fell short by 58 runs to fetch the total.

Although Sri Lanka did play some good cricket in the second innings, the first-innings deficit was large enough to keep them in crunch-22. Dhananjaya de Silva missed out on his well-deserved century by two runs, while there were a couple of good half-century efforts from the batters as well.
