The past three years haven’t been considerate for 50-over cricket fans. With a number of T20I competitions going on around the world, which include the T20 World Cups and the T20 leagues, it seemed that the ODIs had lost their charm. While it’s true that the One Day Internationals (ODIs) saw a significant drop in popularity, they’re back on track as the ICC World Cup 2023 approaches. This article will take you through the ICC World Cup 2023 schedule, team, timetable, squad, venue, matches, points table, and all the other details.

The 2023 ICC World Cup will be the 13th edition of the marquee 50-over tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Although England is the reigning champions and will defend their crown of ODI champions, Australia has been a dominating force in the ODI World Cups with five titles in their dressing room.

England won the last edition of the ICC World Cup, which was held in England in 2019, by defeating New Zealand in a controversial super-over after the match was tied. Interestingly, England and New Zealand also matched their super-over scores, and eventually, on the basis of the overall boundary count, the former team was declared the winner. England had scored 26 boundaries while New Zealand had scored 17.

Let’s take a deep dive at the ICC World Cup 2023 schedule, team, timetable, squads, venue, matches, points table, and much more.

ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule

The ICC World Cup 2023 was earlier scheduled to be held in March 2023, but the COVID pandemic spoiled all the planning and the ICC had to reschedule the tournament. The marquee event was eventually pushed back by six months, and now it will be held in the months of October-November 2023. As of today (February 1, 2023), the official schedule for the ODI World Cup 2023 has not been announced. Stay tuned; we will update it as soon as we get any updates.

ICC World Cup 2023 Format

The format of the ICC World Cup 2023 is similar to what we saw in the 2019 World Cup. All 10 teams will compete in the round-robin followed by the knockout fixtures. A team will play against nine opponents once in the round-robin stage. For a win, team will be awarded two points while a no-result will end in two teams sharing one-point each. The top four teams at the end of the round-robin will play semi-final matches and the two winning teams will contest in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 on 26 November 2023.
