ICC World Cup 2023: Ravi Shastri names player who should take over India?s captaincy after World Cup
The preparations are in full flow for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. The mega event will take place in India during October and November. A total of 48 matches are likely to take place throughout the tournament.
The 8 teams that have qualified are India, Australia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan, England, Bangladesh and South Africa. Whereas two among USA and UAE, West Indies, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Oman, Nepal and Ireland will be head to India for the main tournament.
The official schedule for the ICC World Cup 2023 is likely to be released in the coming days but as per the media reports BCCI has shortlisted Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Rajkot, Bengaluru, Delhi, Indore, Mohali, Guwahati and Hyderabad as the prime venues for the tournament. It is also learned that the final will take place in Ahmedabad.
Going into the World Cup, India will be the favourites heading into the tournament because they will be the hosts and will have a better understanding of the conditions. They haven?t won an ICC Trophy since 2013 and will be under the radar, having recently lost T20 World Cups and ICC Test Championships.
In particular, skipper Rohit Sharma will be under the scanner because his captaincy came under scrutiny after India suffered a loss in the ICC World Test Championship against Australia. He would be hoping to win World Cup for India, but if he fails this time, it?s fair to say that his captaincy will be in danger.
