Asia Cup 2023: KL Rahul to miss Pakistan and Nepal Matches in Asia Cup, Says Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid: India's star batter, KL Rahul, will miss the first two Group stage matches in the Asia Cup as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury.?
KL Rahul will not travel to Sri Lanka with Team India. Therefore, he will stay in Bangalore at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will be assessed again on September 4 ahead of the Super 4 Round of the tournament.
Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid said that Rahul has made good progress in his recovery but needs more time. "He's had an excellent week with us," Dravid said. "Really done well, done a lot of things. He's progressing really well on the route that we want to take. But he will be unavailable for the Group Stage of Asia Cup 2023."
KL Rahul's absence will be a big blow for India as he is a key member of the Indian batting line-up, and his absence will make it difficult for India to find his replacement. Rahul provides more depth in the batting line-up and has good experience in international cricket.
India's Asia Cup campaign will start on September 2 with a high-voltage clash against Pakistan at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Then, Team India will play against Nepal on September 4 at the same venue.?
In KL Rahul's absence, Ishan Kishan will get a chance to play for Team India in the Asia Cup as a Wicket-Keeper Batsman. Ishan has played good cricket in the last few months, and he has been in great touch; he will be a good replacement for KL Rahul.
India will be hoping that Rahul recovers quickly and is available for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023. The tournament will be a good opportunity for India to test their bench strength and prepare for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Which will be played in India from October 5.
