English pacer Jofra Archer to undergo another elbow surgery today

The much anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 is around three months away from now. The biggest carnival in International cricket has kept everyone on their toes. The International Cricket Council (ICC) along with the Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) announced the official schedule of the tournament, which will take place in India for the first time since 2011. The ICC World Cup 2023 will be played from 5th October with final set to take place on 19th November. A total of 48 matches will take place and 10 teams will fight for the title.

ICC World Cup 2023: Massive boost for England as Jofra Archer likely to be fully fit for World Cup

Going into the World Cup defending champions England will be one of the favourites to win the tournament. In the ODIs, they have set a new bar and their fearless brand of cricket is something that sets them apart from the other teams.

With World Cup just a few months away a massive boost has come in their favour as ace pacer Jofra Archer is on the course to be fully fit for the ICC World Cup 2023 as reported by the BBC. The pacer has missed a lot of cricket due to his elbow injury and it’s been more than 2 years he has played regularly.

Jofra Archer flared up his elbow injury during England’s tour to India in 2021. After that underwent surgery and following his rehabilitation, he struggled again with his elbow because of the recurrence of a stress fracture on his right elbow.

Jofra Archer missed IPL 2021 and 2022, along with T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022 and also didn’t feature in the Ashes 2021-22. He returned to action in 2023 against South Africa in January and then played a few games in IPL as well. But his elbow yet again troubled him and he was ruled out of the tournament.

It was expected that he would recover in time for the Ashes 2023 but in a piece of disappointing news, he was ruled out of the whole English summer. However, he has been recovering well and ECB is positive about him being part of the World Cup.
