Disney+ Hotstar played this move to challenge JioCinema's growth in Mobile Streaming. Newly launched JioCinema, the Mobile streaming Platform led by Ambani Group, has attained viewership in crores and made many records while streaming the matches of the Indian Premier League 2023.

Disney+ Hotstar has been affected a lot due to the free streaming by Jio Cinema in IPL 2023, despite having record viewership in IPL 2023.

With more than 500+ million users across India, Disney+ Hotstar will now provide free access to all mobile users to watch Asia Cup and ICC Men's Cricket World Cup matches.

JioCinema was the official mobile streaming partner of the IPL 2023; They streamed IPL 2023 for free to all mobile users. Ambani's Jio Cinema is now directly competing with companies like Disney in the Digital Rights of IPL. In response, Disney is facing a massive drop in their paid subscribers.

JioCinema now charges for showing exclusive content after a deal with HBO and Discovery Inc. This move by Jio Cinema shows they want to compete with players like Walt Disney Co. and Netflix Inc. in the massive Indian market.
