ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 points table: Australia humiliate South Africa to end the league stage without losing a single game
Australia continued their winning run in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 as they thrashed South Africa by seven wickets to end the league stage without losing a single game.
Put into bat at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, South Africa had a terrible outing, getting all out for 97. Australia made a mockery of the chase, winning in 17 overs, to register their seventh win.
Laura Wolvaardt (31) took South Africa off to a flying start with the bat and it seemed that they would post a big total on the board. However, her wicket triggered the collapse as Alana King was all over the opposition with South African wickets falling like a pack of cards.
She picked seven wickets to leave South Africa reeling at 60 for five at one stage. Sinalo Jafta (29) tried to get going but couldn’t as Australia bundled out South Africa for 97 inside 25 overs.
Australia had a poor start in the chase as Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry perished early. However, Georgia Voll (38*) and Beth Mooney (42) joined hands and took the team close to the victory before Annabel Sutherland provided the finishing touch as they chased the target with seven wickets in hand.
