ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final: Smriti Mandhana creates a world record for India, goes past Mithali Raj in the elite list

Indian women’s cricket team batter Smriti Mandhana achieved a massive feat in the history of Indian cricket. She broke the massive record of Mithali Raj, becoming the Indian batter with the most number of runs in a single edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Smriti Mandhana achieved the feat in the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 against the South Africa Women’s Cricket Team. The summit clash of the tournament between the teams is taking place at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. 

Smriti Mandhana, who has looked sensational with the bat in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, started the final on a high note. She looked a bit nervous at the start but with Shafali Varma going great guns at the other end, it took off the pressure from her. 

Smriti Mandhana then played some magical shots in her innings and put South Africa under massive pressure. She played sensationally well, making sure that she takes her team off to a flying start with the bat, especially in the big final. 

Smriti Mandhana added 104 runs for the opening stand with Shafali Varma in the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. She couldn’t score a fifty but played her part as India took one step closer to the trophy.

Mandhana was back in the hut after scoring 45 runs off 58 balls. She batted with a strike rate of over 77 and also slammed eight boundaries during her stay at the crease.
