International Cricket Council (ICC) has nominated three players for the Men’s Player of the Month award. The governing body has nominated two in-form batters and one spinner for their stellar performances in the month of April. Out of three players, one is Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman whereas the other two are New Zealand’s Mark Chapman and Sri Lanka’s Prabhath Jayasuriya. Let’s take a look at performances of the nominees of the Player of the Month award.

Fakhar Zaman 

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman was the standout performer in the month of April. The Southpaw played some fantastic knocks and helped his side win the games. The opening batter has looked a class apart in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand. He scored two staggering centuries in the first game of the series and helped his side win. In the first game, he piled up 117 runs in 114 balls and then followed it up with a gigantic unbeaten knock of 180 runs that helped Pakistan chase a target of 337 runs. Apart from this, he scored 47 runs in the first T20I. His two centuries made him get nominated for the Player of the Month award. 

Prabath Jayasuriya

Sri Lanka spinner Prabhath Jayasuriya was another standout performer in the month of April as he showed his class with the ball in the Test Series against Ireland. He broke a 71-year-old record as he became the fastest spinner to take 50 wickets in Test cricket. Not only this he became the overall second-fastest bowler to achieve the feat in the history of the longest format of the game. He picked 17 wickets in the two-match series against Ireland and also picked his career-best figures of 7/52 this month, which saw him getting nominated for the Player of the Month award.

Mark Chapman

New Zealand’s Mark Chapman is the last nominee for the ICC Player of the Month award. He has found himself in the list because of his sensational performances in the T20I series against New Zealand. The Southpaw was awarded Player of the Series for his sensational show with the bat and ended up as the leading-run getter in the series. The middle-Order batter scored 290 runs in the five innings and helped his side draw the series. He registered scores of 34, 65*, 16*, 71* and a scintillating 104* in the final game that helped his side chase a mammoth target.
