I did decently in IPL 2022 despite injuries hampering me, says Bhuvneshwar Kumar: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stand-in skipper for the final league stage game of the Tata IPL 2022, Bhuvneshwar Kumar said he is pretty satisfied with his performance in the tournament despite a few injuries and niggles hampering him. The pacer said it became “challenging” for him to manage his injuries throughout the season.

The senior SRH speedster could only scalp 12 wickets from 14 outings in the Tata IPL 2022 but maintained a decent economy of 7.34. Though he couldn’t pick a lot of wickets, he certainly restricted the run flow in tough overs.

“As for me, it was a challenging season with injuries hampering me, thought I did a decent job and will look to come back better in the next season,” said Bhuvneshwar in a post-match presentation after Punjab Kings defeated them in the last league stage fixture.

The 2016 IPL champions slipped down to six losses in the last seven matches after notching up five victories in the first seven games. SRH finished eighth in the points table with six wins and eight losses.

Notably, the franchise has several positives in the squad. The likes of Umran Malik and Abhishek Sharma have been impressive right from the start. Moreover, the middle over also looks decent with both Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran putting their hands up to perform for the team.

“Have had many positives, Umran Malik and Abhishek Sharma were the obvious positives, but we have a decent core of batting with Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran coming up pretty well,” he added.

We will have to look at our squad and the management will have to work out on the weaknesses ahead of the next season. We won five on the bounce and had the momentum, but it didn’t go our way and we pretty much lost all our matches in the second half of the tournament.”
