Harry Brook, the English batter who was in the reckoning in the last week after bagging a huge contract with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been withdrawn from the SA20 league by the ECB. This move comes as a workload management strategy of the England and Wales Cricket Board, which is keen on keeping the players fit and ready for all the crucial games. Harry Brook is an all-format player and this could be cited as the reason for his withdrawal. Here is an in-depth look at the same:

Harry Brook had registered for the tournament with the CSK-based franchise. He was supposed to play for the Johannesburg-based franchise. But the England Cricket Board did not assign the NOC for allowing Harry to play. Kasi Viswanathan the CEO of the Chennai Super Kings PVT Ltd. Said, “Since he plays all three formats, the ECB thinks it is too risky to permit him to play the SA20. We received the communication from the ECB last night. We will now have to look for replacements.” Harry was bought for a whopping R 2.1 million by the franchise but now they will have to look for effective replacements.

Harry Brook plays all three formats:

The England Cricket Board is very keen on the workload management of their players. Previously they had also implemented the rotation policy for the same. But that has been a questionable way to deal with the workload. Harry Brook has now become an all-format player. In the test series against Pakistan in Pakistan, Harry scored 3 100s in 3 games. This speaks a lot about the potential of this bloke. Earlier same decisions have been made with Ben Stokes and Sam Curran. Both the players weren’t allowed to participate in IPL 2022 due to workload and rehabilitation clauses.

Brook has been bought for 13.25 Crores in TATA IPL Auction 2023:

The name Harry Brook became common in Indian households when the Sunrisers Hyderabad broke the bank for this lad. He was bought for a jaw-dropping 13.25 Crores. He was one of the top picks in this auction. The middle-order batter is also an asset to the England cricket team. Brook has previously been the captain of the U-19 England Men’s team.
