Explained- Why Yashasvi Jaiswal will be dropped from the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2025?

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in Times of India, it is learned that Yashasvi Jaiswal won't be part of the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025. It is reported that he has been asked by the selectors to focus on red-ball cricket. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was one of the favourites to be picked in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025, has now been asked to focus on red-ball cricket as he has been doing well in the format for India. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been one of the aggressive performers and has scored runs consistently in the T20Is as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Rajasthan Royals (RR). And it was expected that he would be there in the Asia Cup 2025. 

But the belief in the management is that they want to retain the core group. The likes of Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya will be there in the top five, while the bowlers will have their fair share in the tournament. 

The Indian squad will be announced on 19th August, with chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar addressing the press conference. The news related to the squad has been in the news for a while now, and it will be a major tournament and will serve as a great preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. 

The Asia Cup 2025 will begin on 9th September, and the final is scheduled to be played on 28th September. The Indian team will open their campaign on 10th September against the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
