ENGvsIND: England Cricketers tempering the cricket ball with their spikes on day 4 of Lords Test

ENGvsIND: England Cricketers tempering the cricket ball with their spikes on day 4 of Lords Test.

ENGvsIND: The English players caused a stir among the netizens during the evenly poised game between England and India as the two home side cricketers were seen pressing the cricket ball with their spikes in the post-lunch session in the Lord’s test.

Although the pictures indicated that the ball was being pressed by the cricketers to temper it, the actual broadcasting video showed that the two players were passing the ball and playing a bit of football with the red cherry.

The scenes created a little flak on social media as several Indian former cricketers raised their concerns over tempering.

Addressing the issue, Indian batting coach Vikram Rathore said that ‘it wasn’t intentional by the English cricketers,’ and the cricket board hasn’t lodged any complaints with match referee Chris Broad.

“We saw it much later but I don’t think it was deliberate,” said Vikram Rathore in the post day press conference.

The incident, putting social media on a split, was recorded in the 35th over of Ollie Robinson. The matter got pressed as it looked unintentional and the umpires also did not change the ball.

The result of the second test match is now due on day five with India batting on 181 in the loss of 6 wickets. Team India will look to score as many runs as possible in the first session of day five and then declare the innings.
