ENG vs NZ: Kane Williamson makes Virat Kohli like International comeback against England

Kane Williamson, the New Zealand batter making his international comeback since the ICC Champions Trophy against England, was dismissed for a duck in his first game in the ENG vs NZ ODI series. 

England won the T20 series against New Zealand 1-0, after the games were washed away by excessive rain. They hence advanced to the ODI series as the dominant side, but New Zealand is currently the second-ranked team as per the ICC rankings, after finishing the Champions Trophy as the runners-up against India. 

Kane Williamson dismissed for a duck on his International comeback

New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson has made his much-awaited return for the Black Caps, after he denied another central contract this time around as well. The denial of the contract gives him the liberty to decide on the matches or tours he wants to be part of. 

Coming out to bat second for New Zealand, while chasing a minor score of 224, they lost the early wicket of opener Will Young, who fell to Brydon Carse. Williamson came in to bat at no. 3 and was out on the very first ball for a golden duck. 

This resembled Indian veteran Virat Kohli's dismissal for a duck on his international comeback, as he too fell for 0 but off 7 balls against Mitchell Starc at Perth. 

Harry Brook's heroic hundred rescued England from a devastating start 

As New Zealand bowler Matt Henry made the new ball speak, he drew first blood of the very first delivery, dismissing Jamie Smith for a duck. Ben Duckett too followed him in the next over from Zakary Foulkes, who was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers. 

Joe Root and Jacob Bethell too could not hold on to the England innings and it looked to fall apart as Harry Brook, the skipper, came in. Jos Buttler too followed the rest of the English side into the dugout. 

Brook stood firm as wickets kept falling from the other end; he, alongside Jamie Overton, put on a stunning stand for the 7th wicket and took England to a score past the two hundred mark. Brook's finished 135 off 101 balls and was the last wicket to fall against the opposition skipper Mitchell Santner. 

England managed to play in only 35.2 overs before they were bowled out, with Jacob Duffy clearing the English tailenders.
