He became the batter with 6 centuries, the most by any visiting player in ODIs in Australia, surpassing the previous record of 5 set by VIrat Kohli. 

2. Rohit Sharma becomes the third-highest Indian run-getter in ODIs

Almost a year since Rohit retired from the shortest format of the game, yet he remains the highest run-getter for India in the format. He is now the third-highest run-getter for India, having surpassed Sourav Ganguly's overall run record throughout his 50-over career. 

Rohit has neared another great record, as he is just 3 sixes away from surpassing former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi with the most sixes in the 50-over format. While Afridi has 351 sixes in 398 games, Rohit Sharma has 348 sixes in 276* matches. 

3. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma set new standards for partnership records in ODIs

Virat and Rohit both built a huge 150+ partnership for the second wicket, which led them to their 12th such partnership, equalling that of former India greats Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. 

They too have now combined to score over 1000 runs in a partnership against Australia across formats. The two now have 5483 runs combined between them. 

4. Virat Kohli breaks record for most 50+ scores while chasing in ODI history 

Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 74 after having scored two consecutive ducks in the two previous games. This marked the 75th half-century in ODIs as he became the highest half-centurion for India, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record of 69 fifties. 

He reached 70 50+ scores while chasing in ODIs and now has tied Sachin Tendulkar's record of 24 ODI 50s against Australia in the format. 

5. Virat Kohli officially surpasses Kumar Sangakkara in ODI runs tally 

Virat Kohli had long surpassed Kumar Sangakkara's total runs tally for the Sri Lankan team in ODIs, and now he has surpassed Sangakkara's overall record of runs in the One-day format to emerge as the official second-highest scorer in the format for India.  

Virat Kohli now officially has more runs scored than Sri Lankan batter Kumar Sangakkara, who scored 14234 runs in his career. Kohli now has 14255 runs in his career and is only behind the great Sachin Tendulkar.
