The last time England lost a Test match in Manchester was in 2019. It came against Australia when they suffered a massive 185-run loss. Australia opted to bat first and declared their innings on 497 on account of a double ton by Steve Smith. 

However, England didn't have a great outing in the first innings as they got all out for just 301. In the second innings, Steve Smith shone with the bat again, scoring 82 runs, as Australia declared their innings at 186, setting a massive target of 383 runs on the board.

In the chase, England had another torrid outing as they got all out for just 197 runs. Skipper Pat Cummins picked up four wickets as Australia won the game by a massive margin of 185 runs.
