Date Revealed!! Rohit & Virat Finally Return to Action | IND vs SA ODI 2025

The BCCI has officially announced India’s ODI squad for the South Africa series, and the biggest news is the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both legends have been out of action since the ODI series in Australia, whose last match was played on October 25, 2025. KL Rahul is the new captain forthe three-match ODI series against South Africa in the absence of Shubman Gill.

Rohit and Virat's return to India's ODI team is important, especially when India is struggling in the test series and some of the key players are suffering from injuries. The young players are not performing consistently, and the experience of both Rohit & Virat will be very helpful for the team.

Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli Return

The First ODI match between India and South Africa will be played on November 30 at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, Jharkhand. This is going to be their first home ODI series since the England tour earlier this year, but Rohit was leading India’s ODI team at that time.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from test and T20I cricket; however, both continue to play only ODIs. They are expected to continue playing ODIs until the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027.

KL Rahul named Captain in Gill’s Absence:

After Shubman Gill ruled out of the test and ODI series against South Africa due to a neck injury, the BCCI appointed KL Rahul as India’s ODI captain. Rahul has already led the Indian team at multiple occasions, and he had experience of leading the team in pressure situations, so it's a good choice from the BCCI.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad have also been recalled to India's ODI squad after quite a long time. Jadeja wasn’t part of the Indian Team in the Australia series, and his addition will boost India’s all-rounder strength.
