International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday (23rd January) announced the ODI Team of the Year 2023. Indian captain Rohit Sharma has named a skipper of the team, which features 6 Indians, two Australians, two South Africans and one Kiwi player.
Rohit Sharma has been slotted as an opener by ICC in the ODI Team of the Year 2023. The Indian captain was at his absolute best in last year as he amassed 1255 runs at an average of 52. His aggressive intent at the top was the highlight of his ODI outings.

Mohammed Shami because of his impressive outing in ICC World Cup 2023 staked his claim in the ODI Team of the year 2023. He was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 24 scalps to his name. He picked four five-wicket hauls with the best of 7/57, which came against New Zealand in the final.
