BREAKING: Mohammed Shami Joins LSG! Lucknow Confirmed in Bold All-Cash Deal

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have officially acquired Indian star pacer Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL 2026 Retention. The deadline for the IPL 2026 Retention is November 15, 2025, and the IPL 2026 Auction will be held on December 16, 2025 in Abu Dhabi.
Lucknow Super Giants bowling department was exposed in the IPL 2025, and they need some experienced fast bowlers who can lead their bowling department. Lucknow finished at 7th spot in the IPL 2025 Points Table and out of 14 matches, LSG won 6 matches and lost 8 games.
The addition of Mohammed Shami will be a massive boost for the Lucknow Super Giants bowling department. However, Shami had a very disappointing performance in the last season of the Indian Premier League. He played 9 matches in IPL 2025 and took only 6 wickets at an economy rate of 11.23.
Why LSG Wanted Shami?
Lucknow Super Giants struggled with pace bowling in IPL 2025. The inconsistent form and inexperienced bowling from Akash Deep and Avesh Khan impacted the team's performance. The young Indian pacer Mayank Yadav didn't play most of the matches due to injury.
Therefore, LSG seriously needs to work on their bowing department and with the presence of Mohd. Shami, Mayank Yadav, and William O’Rourke, LSG’s pace attack can crush any batting unit in the upcoming IPL 2026 edition.
Mohd. Shami Trade Deal details:
Lucknow Super Giants bought Mohd. Shami through traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad in an all-cash deal, which means LSG doesn’t have to give in any player. Shami was bought by SRH at a whopping price of Rs. 10.00 crore in the IPL 2026 Mega Auction.
