Breaking: Australia Squad For India Series Announced! Starc, Renshaw making Headlines
Australia have announced their squads for the upcoming white-ball series against India, and there’s plenty to talk about. The three-match ODI series starts on October 19 in Perth, followed by a five-match T20I series beginning October 29.
The biggest talking point is the return of Mitchell Starc, who will make his first international appearance of the season. The left-arm pacer, who skipped the South Africa tour to manage his workload, is now ready to lead Australia’s bowling attack once again. This series will be Starc’s only white-ball outing before the Ashes, starting in November.
Another name making waves is Matthew Renshaw, who has earned a recall to the ODI squad after his strong form for Queensland and Australia A. The left-hander is yet to make his ODI debut but could finally get the chance against India. Alongside him, Mitchell Owen and Matthew Short also return to the side after recovering from injuries.
Mitchell Marsh will continue to lead the ODI and T20I sides, as Pat Cummins focuses on regaining full fitness ahead of the Ashes. Australia’s 15-man ODI squad features a mix of experience and fresh energy, with Starc, Hazlewood, and Zampa forming the core bowling unit, and rising talents like Owen and Connolly adding balance to the lineup.
Wicketkeeper Alex Carey will miss the first ODI in Perth due to Sheffield Shield duties but will return for the remaining two games. In his absence, Josh Inglis is expected to don the gloves.
Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell continues to be out of action after injuring his wrist during training. In his absence, Marcus Stoinis keeps his place in the T20I squad, while Tim David, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Matthew Short form a powerful batting core.
Selectors have also named squads for only the first two T20Is, with some players expected to be managed later in the series. “We’re trying to strike a balance between preparing for the World Cup and getting players ready for the Ashes,” said selection chair George Bailey.
