Big Update!! IPL 2026 Auction Date Revealed - India Set To Host Marquee Event

As per the latest report, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction is expected to take place on December 15, and this time, this marquee event is likely to be held in India, unlike earlier, when it was expected to be held in the UAE. The last auctions were held in Dubai and Jeddah, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) bringing the IPL auction back home in 2026.
Along with the auction date, the IPL 2026 Retention deadline for all franchises is on November 15, 2025. All 10 franchises have to submit their retained and released players list to the BCCI before the deadline. Therefore, the upcoming few weeks are going to be exciting and important as the franchise will be making some serious decisions.
IPL 2026 Auction Returning to India:
Earlier, there were multiple discussions that the BCCI might conduct the IPL 2026 Auction in the Gulf region again. As per the reports, Abu Dhabi was the top preference, while Oman and Qatar were also the secondary options.
However, the latest reports claim that the BCCI is likely to host the IPL 2026 mini-auction in India. However, the official is yet to be confirmed. The chances are high that the event will either be held in Mumbai or Delhi.
Sanju Samson & Ravindra Jadeja in a swap deal between CSK & RR:
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are expected to have a possible trade between Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson. Both Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson are Rs. 18 Crore players in their respective teams, which makes the swap financially easy and a direct method.
However, the Rajasthan Royals are not agreeing to a one-to-one swap; they are asking for one more player from the Chennai Super Kings to be added along with Jadeja. As per the latest reports, both franchises are in the final stage of negotiations, and the possibility of this deal between CSK and RR is high.
Rajasthan is also interested in Dewald Brevis, along with Ravindra Jajdea, in the swap deal with Chennai for Sanju Samson. Brevis was bought by CSK in IPL 2025, and later, he became one of the most valuable emerging hitters.
