Big Record for MS Dhoni during CSK vs RR match: Seasoned captain MS Dhoni is now all set to create history in the ongoing Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) as his team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face Rajasthan Royals (RR) today (12th April) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is set to etch his name in the history books of the IPL as he will become the first player to lead a franchise in 200 matches in the IPL. He will lead CSK against Rajasthan Royals in his 200th appearance as the captain in the IPL.

Notably, MS Dhoni is the most-capped player in the IPL with 237 appearances out of which, 213 appearances came as a captain of the side. Interestingly, Dhoni has led Rising Pune Supergiants in the past in 2016, besides captaining Chennai Super Kings since the inception of the cash-rich league.

The 2011 World Cup-winning captain has maintained a fantastic winning record in the IPL. Out of 213 games as a captain, Dhoni has managed to seal 125 matches with an immaculate win percentage of 58.96.

The other players on the list of most appearances as a captain are Rohit Sharma with 146 games under his belt as the captain of Mumbai Indians, and Virat Kohli with 140 matches as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore between 2011-2021.

Talking about MS Dhoni’s personal records, Dhoni has mustered in excess of 5000 runs in 237 matches at an average of 39.09. While Dhoni is the seventh cricketer to cross the 5000 runs mark in the IPL, he is the only lower-middle-order batter to achieve this feat. All six players ahead of Dhoni on the list are top-order batters.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has congratulated his skipper on the remarkable feat of 200 games as a captain of the franchise. Jadeja said Dhoni is a legendary cricketer not only for the CSK but also for the Indian team.

“What can I say? He is a legend of not only CSK, he is also a legend of Indian cricket. I would like to wish him good luck. Hopefully, we will win the game tomorrow and give it as a gift to him on his 200th match as captain. Hope to continue the momentum of how we have played in the last two games,” said Ravindra Jadeja on the eve of the CSK vs RR fixture.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have played nicely so far in the Tata IPL 2023. In three outings, CSK managed to win two after losing their opening game to Gujarat Titans (GT). CSK defeated arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium to bring up their second victory of the season.

With four rating points, CSK currently stands in the fifth position with a +0.356 net run rate. The list is led by Lucknow Super Giants with three victories and a loss in four games.
