Big Change in BCCI! Mithun Manhas to Replace Roger Binny as President
The Indian cricket is set to have some major leadership changes as former Delhi cricketer Mithum Manhas is expected to become the new president of the BCCI.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is heading towards a big change in its administration. According to the reports, former Delhi cricketer Mithum Manhas is likely to replace Roger Binny as the new president of the BCCI. There have been a lot more changes in the key positions of the BCCI; however, some people also retained their previous postitions.
Roger Binny, the current BCCI president, will step down from the post after reaching the age of 70 years, as the maximum age allowed for BCCI office bearers as per the board's constitution and Lodha Committee recommendations.
Binny started his tenure as BCCI president in October 2022 and ended in August 2025. It was a three-year term, and during his tenure, Indian Cricket witnessed several developments, ICC Tournaments, and improvement in domestic cricket.
Who is Mithun Manhas?
Mithum Manhas is a former domestic cricketer who played for Delhi and later for Jammu and Kashmir. He has played over 157 first-class matches and scored 9,700 runs with an impressive average of 45. He also captained Delhi in the Ranji Trophy.
He also played in the Indian Premier League for teams like Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), and Pune Warriors. Despite all these achievements, he never got a chance to play for the Indian Team, he had a domestic career for around 20 years.
After retiring, Manhas moved into coaching and administration roles. He has served as an assistant coach with various IPL teams and currently serves as administrator of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). Candidates can still withdraw their nominations until September 23. According to the reports, Rajeev Shukla will continue as vice-president for a new term despite serving five-years, whereas Devajit Saikia is confirmed to remain as BCCI Secretary for the new tenure. However, there are also some fresh faces in the key roles. Raghuram Bhatt will be the new BCCI treasurer, and Prabhatej Singh Bhatia of Chattisgarh will be taking the new role as joint secretary. Apart from this, Fresh elections will also be held for the Apex Council and IPL Governing Council at the BCCI's AGM (Annual General Meeting).
