BCCI to conduct Ranji Trophy 2021 ahead of IPL, taking into consideration the livelihood of the players.

Ranji Trophy 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to conduct the Ranji Trophy 2021 ahead of the Indian Premier League 2021. India’s most premier tournament in domestic cricket was cancelled last time due to the pandemic. BCCI pays all the Ranji Players 40,000 rupees per day in the four-day game which happens to be the only source of income for the domestic players in India.

The BCCI this time has given green signal for the senior women’s games but is yet to take a decision on the conduction of junior games.

As per the reports, BCCI in the recent Apex Council Meeting held recently took the feedback from all the members. BCCI secretary Jay Shah sought the feedback whether what would be a better tournament to conduct after the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021, all the members of the panel cast their votes for the Ranji Trophy.

It is expected that Vijay Hazare Trophy might not happen this time while there are some chances of Ranji Trophy with some cuts in the schedule and games.

Just two months for Ranji Trophy 2021:

The BCCI has some real problems in from of them, Ranji Trophy before IPL 2021 has to be conducted in the window of two months as only two months are left for the upcoming IPL. India is still not over with the pandemic and in his case, the board has to do a lot of permutation and combination to conduct the games.

“The Apex Council had a discussion on the issue. And Jay Bhai was of the view that players earn more in Ranji Trophy as compared to Syed Mushtaq Ali. The livelihoods of domestic cricketers depend on the four-day game. The operations team has been told to go ahead and make a concrete plan for the Ranji Trophy,” a BCCI official said.

With more than 30 teams participating in the domestic tournament, the BCCI could face the challenge of logistics and movement. BCCI personally took the suggestions from the state associations, while most of them preferred T20 over 50-over cricket while some players have requested BCCI to conduct the Ranji Trophy 2021 in place of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
