BCCI sly move against ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi revealed; Asia Cup Trophy row deepens
The Indian cricket board, BCCI, has been involved in a major controversy with the current ACC and PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi. The Indian team refused to accept the trophy at the hands of Mohsin Naqvi, which initiated the struggles between the sides, which remains yet to be sorted.
The Indian team defeated Pakistan thrice in the Asia Cup 2025, first in the group-stage game, then later in the Super-4 stage and finally in the Asia Cup final. Firm on his resolve, Mohsin Naqvi, too, walked off with the Asia Cup trophy, claiming the Indian team should receive it only from the ACC headquarters.
BCCI pinning for sacking ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi
The BCCI, when denied by Mohsin Naqvi's ego to be handed the much-deserved Asia Cup trophy, moved to the ACC. As the Asian Cricket Council could not meet their demands, the BCCI representatives rushed out and vowed to escalate it further to the ICC.
Alongside it, they had also claimed to take serious action from their end against the current ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi, and had vowed to remove him from his current position on the continental board.
"BCCI is trying to push Chairman ACC Mohsin Naqvi down in the Asian Cricket Council," claimed reports from Pakistani reporter Abubakar Bin Tallat.
The Sri Lanka cricket board has dealt with BCCI, as the Indian board has agreed to send their retired players in for the 2025 Lanka Premier League in exchange for support in the Asian council.
"Their plan? Offering Sri Lanka’s board a deal: send India’s recently retired cricket stars (think big names!) to play in the 2025 Lanka Premier League," the reports from the abovementioned source have also revealed BCCI's plan of action against India.
PCB Backs Mohsin Naqvi against BCCI's actions
While the actions following the Asia Cup final in Dubai were criticized by several cricket boards, it seemed to be a matter of pride for Pakistan. As per reports, Mohsin Naqvi will be awarded with the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Excellence Gold Medal.
As per the reports, the award ceremony would include Naqvi being honoured with a gold medal, while PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was invited as the chief guest, though the date has not been finalised yet.
"But PCB will not be backing down, and Naqvi is ready to stand strong and protect the influence in Asian cricket," the reporter has also updated on PCB's stance over the issue.
