Asia Cup 2025: Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian captain, has failed to make an impact with the bat versus Pakistan, and the statistics are surprising.
Star batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been made the captain of the Indian team for the fortcoming Asia Cup 2025, slated to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 34-year-old Suryakumar will be handling the captaincy-duties of the Indian team for the very first time in a multi-nation tournament. In such a situation, this will be a special occasion for him. Under his captaincy, the Indian team has not lost a bilateral series so far. Now, a similar performance is expected from Team India under him in the Asia Cup.
SKY is also going to face a personal challenge in the Asia Cup . The 34-year-old is considered as one of the best T20 batsmen in modern-day Cricket, but he has not been successful against Pakistan. Suryakumar's batting record against the Green Shirts in T20 International Cricket has been very ordinary. His highest score in the shortest format of the game against Team India's fierce-rivals so far is just 18 runs, which he made in Asia Cup 2022.

Surya has featured in five Twenty-Twenty against Pakistan so far, in which he scored 64 runs at an average of 12.80. He played two of these matches in the 2022 Asia Cup, where he scored 18 and 13 runs against them. Both those matches of the Asia Cup were played on the turning pitch of Dubai, where the right-handed batter failed. He played the remaining three matches in different editions of the ICC T20 World Cup. Suryakumar's bat did not work against this team even on the pitches of Melbourne and New York, which are favorable for fast bowlers.
Suryakumar Yadav's performance against PAK in T20I:
- 11 runs- 24 October 2021, Dubai (T20 World Cup)
- 18 runs- 28 August 2022, Dubai (Asia Cup)
- 13 runs- 4 September 2022, Dubai (Asia Cup)
- 15 runs- 23 October 2022, Melbourne (T20 World Cup)
- 7 runs- 9th June 2024, New York (T20 World Cup)
Let us tell you that Suryakumar Yadav has not got a chance to participate in a single match against Pakistan in ODI cricket so far. Suryakumar's overall performance in T20 International has been excellent. The Indian skipper has so far amassed 2,598 runs in 83 T20 International matches at an average of 38.20 and a strike rate of 167.07. During this, 4 centuries and 21 half-centuries have come from his bat.
Former Pakistani batsman Bazid Khan believes that Pakistani bowlers can again take advantage of India's weakness of Suryakumar Yadav. Bazid told PTV Sports, 'Suryakumar Yadav scores runs against every team, but he has not been effective against Pakistan. Whether the reason is Pakistan's pace bowling attack or something else, but this is a problem.'
