Asia Cup 2023: Sri Lanka set to host Asia Cup 2023 says report(Indian Express)

Asia Cup 2023: The Asian Cricket Council announced that Sri Lanka is going to host the Asia Cup 2023, which was scheduled in Pakistan after the BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced that the Indian team is not going to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023.

At the end of the month, ACC will announce the final venue for ACC Asia Cup 2023. Voting systems are used to decide the host nation of the Asia Cup, all the members of ACC will decide who will host the next Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan support India’s decision to choose Sri Lanka as the host nation for the Asia Cup, whereas Pakistan still needs to be determined about their participation in the tournament. Most probably, they will boycott this Asia Cup over the issue of venue shift.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is trying to convince all the members of the ACC to host the tournament, and BCCI gets support from ACC members to shift the venue of the tournament. After the BCCI statement over participation in Asia Cup, PCB proposed a new format to host Asia. They called it a hybrid model where India played all their matches of the Asia Cup in Dubai, and the rest of them would play their match in Pakistan.

The big question over Pakistan’s Participation in Asia Cup 2023:

Pakistan’s participation in the tournament needs to be clarified, and they may boycott the Asia Cup if it is not held in Pakistan. If they do not participate in the upcoming Asia Cup, then a big question arises about their participation in the ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

Pakistan was trying to do their best to host the Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan. That’s why they were giving such reckless speeches and the unwanted threats of not participating in the ICC World Cup 2023

Sri Lanka set to host Asia Cup 2023:

As per the Report of Indian Express, Asian Cricket Council(ACC) will shift Asia Cup 2023 to Sri Lanka. This move was appreciated by Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka after BCCI refused the Hydrid Model proposed by the Pakistan cricket board(PCB) to host the Asia Cup 2023.
